Further to the Masterclass you attended in July’24 “Thinking about Sustainability: How can educators nurture students’ knowledge, skills and actions?” led by Dr Sally Birdsall – Senior Lecturer (Curriculum & Pedagogy), we are now delighted to announce the launch of our SDG Competition for students in Years 11 and 12.
I kindly ask you to review the guidelines provided below and to nominate two students who will collaborate on this team project. Please ensure that the nominations are submitted by October 3, 2024.

The STEM-A-Thon is designed as a team-based competition, running from August 2024 to December 2024 over two rounds, offering students a unique platform to showcase their problem-solving skills, collaborate with peers, and receive mentorship from leading experts in the field.
This prestigious competition provides a unique platform for high school students in India to showcase their problem-solving skills to the expert faculty of Imperial College London. This competition is designed to inspire and empower young innovators, fostering global talent and innovation. We are thrilled to bring this opportunity to students across India, offering them the chance to work collaboratively on challenging problems and gain invaluable insights from world-renowned experts.
The competition is open to students of Grade 10-12 from CBSE, ICSE, IB and Cambridge boards, across India. We encourage you to share the information with your students from class 10-12th and their parents to nominate a team of 3 students and a chaperone teacher from your school to represent at the STEM-A-Thon competition, where 15 teams will be selected to participate in the final round in December at a Delhi venue to compete for exciting prizes. The HSSL invites talented students from over 100 prestigious schools across India to compete in teams, building businesses from scratch. Teams will pitch their startup ideas and vie for grants of up to INR 20 Lakhs, judged by a prestigious panel of top CXOs and industry experts. Former judges have been Shark Tank famous Ashneer Grover, Nearbuy Founder Ankur Warikoo, Celebrity Influencer TechBurner and renowned CA Sarthak Ahuja.

Round 1 - Startup Weekend at Your School
Masters’ Union will host a Startup Weekend for 2 days at your school, where students will receive mentorship and training to develop a compelling business pitch.
Round 2 - Online Voting
The top startups from Round 1 will enter an online voting round. The 15 teams with the most votes will advance to the final showdown.
Round 3 - Final Showdown
The best teams will represent their schools on a national stage, pitching their ideas to celebrity judges for a chance to win grants worth INR 20 Lakhs.
Note: Students between IX and XII are eligible to participate, and there is NO participation fee. This event is exclusive to topmost selected schools all over India.
