School Rules

Every student must carry his almanac and identity card to school each day.

Students who come to school on their own should arrive 10 minutes before the bell rings.

The first morning bell before a class is a signal for all to go to their respective classrooms. This should be done promptly and in silence.,

Changing of classrooms between periods should be done in an orderly manner and silently.

Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions. Students who are slovenly dressed or not in uniform will be sent home.

All boys (except Sikhs) must keep their hair short. Girls must tie their hair neatly with a green band.

Care must be taken of all school property. No student should damage any school furniture, write or draw anything on the walls. Damage done should be reported at once to the class teacher. Recovery for any damage will be made from the concerned student.

Students are advised to keep their class room, building and campus as clean as possible and make use of dustbins.

As a part of “Swachch Vidhyalaya Abhiyan” the students must carry a sanitizer, a duster and a napkin to keep themselves and their surroundings clean.

No books (other than text books, library books or good story books), magazines or papers should be brought to the school.

Lending or borrowing of money or other articles is prohibited.

The school is not responsible for the goods lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches, fountain-pens, items of jewellery) to school.

Students who are escorted to school should never leave before the escort arrives. In case of delay, they should report to the school office.

The school reserves the right to suspend students on the basis of indiscipline. Use of fire crackers, holi colours etc is strictly prohibited.

No attendance would be given to a student during the period of suspension.

Parents and guardians of all students should contact the teachers on the PTM days to note the progress of their wards.

Parents and guardians must not visit their wards or teachers without prior permission of the Headmistress.

In case of any urgency of meeting class/subject teacher parent is required to send a note in his ward’s almanac for the concerned teacher to specify a suitable time and date. Under no circumstances will parents be allowed to meet a teacher during her teaching hours. In case of emergency parents to contact the Headmistress.

Parents and guardians visiting the school for any purpose should follow a proper semi formal/formal dress code.

The name, class and section of the pupil should be clearly marked on all the belongings of the students. Water bottles, blazer and jerseys should also bear the name of the student.

Latecomers and uniform defaulters will be sent home.

A student who uses unfair means during tests will be given zero in the subject and a warning letter. Repetition of the same will result in dismissal.

A child will not be allowed to leave the school after a test. In case he/she is not well, he should appear for the retest of the subject. No attendance will be given if the child appears for the test only.

Students are not allowed to use the school telephone without the permission of the Receptionist. They will not be called to answer phone calls during class hours.

School appointments will wear their respective badges daily.

Students using the school bus will maintain discipline in the bus. Bus facilities will be withdrawn in cases where discipline is not properly maintained.

A sick child should not be sent to school. In case of an emergency, when the school doctor instructs so, the parents will be requested to take the child back.

Students are not allowed to go to a relative/friend’s house from school.

No birthday parties in any form are allowed. Distribution of any gifts in the school is banned.

The school provides all the necessary equipment for sports activity during the games period. Students are not allowed to bring their own balls, bats etc. to school.

In case a child is absent for more than 2 days due to any illness a leave application must be sent to the teacher. In case of any other reason of absence prior sanction to be sought.

The school insists on the following measures to be observed by the members of staff and all students. Care must be taken to observe the “green rules” in order to maintain clean, green surroundings. That is, school premises should not be littered with disposable tumblers, papers or polythene bags.

Delhi Public School students should invariably be polite wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet their teachers when they meet them. Bullying and use of foul language are punishable offences.

DPS provides education from Nursery to class XII. Therefore, it is expected that the juniors be treated with love and affection, while the juniors show all respect to their seniors.

All the student appointments to carry out their duties efficiently, In case they are not doing their duties properly, disciplinary action will be taken against them.

Canteen facility is only available in break time or after the school is over. If there is an emergency, children can avail of this facility with the concerned teacher’s permission slip.

The students are not allowed to carry more than - Rs.50/- for the canteen.
The students must carry money for the canteen as per the given schedule-
Class I – Monday
Class II- Tuesday
Class III- Wednesday
Class IV- Thursday
Class V Friday

Students to carry their text/exercise books according to the timetable for that day. No extra books are allowed.

(School rules can be changed without prior notice or reason.)

Withdrawal

If a child has to be withdrawn from school, parents are requested to give one calendar month’s notice in writing, failing which, one month’s fee will be charged in lieu thereof. Exception may be made in case of sudden transfer of government or military personnel.

Those who leave the school in May must pay the fee for the month of June.

Transfer certificates for children withdrawn are not issued until all dues are settled.

Students can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds:

  • Disciplinary.
  • Non-payment of fees.

As a rule only those students will be retained on the roll of the school who can take the school leaving examination under 18 years of age.

Attendance

It is compulsory for all students to complete 75% attendance before every assessment. In case attendance is short, students will not be eligible for upgradation/any academic award.

Repeated absence without leave or unexplained absence for more than ten consecutive days inspite of repeated reminders from the school, renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls; readmission may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee, provided the vacancy still exists.

All children are expected to attend school on the opening day after every vacation and must be present before closing for the vacation. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate within 3 days of absence through fax, representative or school website.

A child returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious diseases should produce a fitness certificate from a doctor.

Students suffering from any one of the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class.

  • Chicken pox - Till complete falling of scabs.
  • Cholera - Till the child is completely well
  • Measles - Two weeks after the rash disappears.
  • Mumps - Until the swelling has gone.
  • Whooping cough - Six weeks
  • Jaundice - Six weeks
  • Typhoid, dengue, swine flue, etc. - Till complete recovery
  • Students who represent the school for any activity on a working day will be benefitted with attendance. Any student not representing the school, will have no such claim.
