School Rules

  1. Students will not be allowed to enter the school on short leave. In case of a medical or any other emergency the child will be allowed to leave the school. A gate pass will be issued from the office of the Vice Principal (Administration). The child should be accompanied either by parents or an authorised person.
  2. Students who come to school on their own should reach the school punctually. The school gate will close at 7:20 AM (summer timings); 7:35 AM (winter timings). Late arrivals will be sent home immediately.
  3. Parents and guardians are not allowed to enter the school during school hours without prior appointment. An appointment can be fixed on the telephone - 011-43399200 / 241 or through the official e-mail address given on the school website.
  4. Parents must ensure that their ward is in proper school uniform and RFID.
  5. As per CBSE norms, it is illegal to bring a mobile phone to school and once it is confiscated it will not be returned to the parent. Electronic watches and other electronic devices are banned in the school. The students should not be permitted to carry any electronic communication device including those that can store/record/play audio-visual content; transmit or receive images; or provide unfiltered connection to the internet such as I-Pads, Pen drives DVD/CD players, game consoles, handheld PC, smart phones, laptops, tablet or any other gadget with similar capabilities of data storage/transmission, etc. It is reiterated that unmonitored use of any electronic communication device is strictly prohibited in school as per the direction of the CBSE. The students must not bring cigarettes, e-cigarettes, e-hookah, deodorants/ perfumes, explosive material/ crackers and sharp tools/ knives to school. The parents are advised to check the bags of their wards before they depart for school. Non-compliance will lead to strict/appropriate disciplinary action.
  6. Buying / selling / using e-cigarettes/hookah/tobacco/vape in or around a 100 yards radius of the school campus is totally banned and is a punishable offence. If anybody is found indulging in the aforementioned activities, strict disciplinary action would be taken against them. (As per the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act - COTPA 2003).
  7. Regarding complaints pertaining to bullying, smoking and sexual abuse the parents can lodge the same at e-mail IDs provided under Safety and Security on page 30.Complaint Boxes have also been installed within the school premises in which students/parents may drop their written complaints.
  8. The students can avail of the 'Accidental Insurance' facility provided by the school.
  9. Changing of classrooms between periods should be done in an orderly and silent manner. Students should not unnecessarily leave their class at the end of every period.
  10. Children are advised to use the washroom in the home room period or during a change of period. They must return to the class within 2 minutes. In case of an emergency, they must inform the teacher concerned and return within 2-3 minutes.
  11. Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions. Students who are shabbily dressed or not in uniform will be sent home. Use of hair gel is not allowed. Wearing low waist trousers and short skirts is forbidden.
  12. All boys (except Sikhs) must keep their hair short. Girls must tie their hair neatly with a green band.
  13. Non-Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals. Sikh boys must wear bottle green turbans in Class IX and above. A patka may be worn only while playing games.
  14. No books (other than text books or library books) or magazines should be brought to the school.
  15. Lending or borrowing of money or other articles is not allowed.
  16. Students who come to school escorted should never leave before the escort arrives. In case of delay, they should report to the school security officer at the reception.
  17. Students are not allowed to use the school telephone. However, in case of an emergency, the Class Teacher/ Reps / Coordinators will contact the parents at the earliest.
  18. The school does not permit the celebration of birthdays or festivals in the school campus. Parents are advised not to send sweets, cakes etc. with children for celebration of birthdays. Exchange of gifts is also not allowed. Birthday bumps are a punishable offence.
  19. Care must be taken by the members of staff and all students to observe the "Green Rules" in order to maintain clean and green surroundings. That is, school premises will not be littered with disposable tumblers, papers or polythene bags. Single use plastic items are strictly prohibited in the school premises.
  20. Students are advised to keep their class room, school buildings and campus as clean as possible, and throw leftovers into the dustbins. They should not spoil or pluck flowers.
  21. Students are expected to respect school property. No student should damage / be involved in damaging any school furniture; write or draw anything on the walls or in any way damage things belonging to others. Any school property damaged even by accident should be reported at once to the Class teacher / Class Reps / Coordinators / Vice-Principals/ Principal.
  22. Delhi Public School students should invariably be polite wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet their teachers whenever they meet them.
  23. Proper care of the Smart Boards should be ensured by all the students of the class, students must ensure that they are not tampered with. Smart Boards have to be taken care of by all the students of the class. The students of the class will be responsible for any damage to the same.
  24. Students are prohibited from damaging the RFID card readers and CCTV cameras installed in the school premises. Such misconduct would invite strict disciplinary action.
  25. The school is not responsible for goods lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches/ fountain pens, cash, jewellery/bracelets/ear studs etc.) to school.
  26. DPS provides education from Pre-school to Class XII. Therefore, it is expected that the juniors be treated with love and affection, while the juniors show respect to their seniors.
  27. Fee can be paid by cheque/draft or online within the stipulated time.
  28. As per the Directorate of Education, no student shall indulge in any of the following practices:
    1. Absence from classes without the permission of the teacher / Vice Principals / Principal
    2. Misbehaviour towards teachers or any other employee of the school
    3. Disobeying laws / orders of the teacher / Vice Principal / Principal
    4. Intentional disturbance of classes
    5. Eve teasing / Misbehaviour towards girl students
    6. Bringing unauthorized people / article inside the school
    7. Indulging in acts of moral turpitude.
    8. Any behavior unbecoming of a student
    9. Carrying and using mobile phones
    10. Misuse of Smart Board
    11. Use of motor vehicle like scooty / moped etc by the students and bringing these in the school
    12. Theft of school / students property
    13. Propagating a strike / disruption of classes
    14. Association with banned organisations
    15. Spitting and littering in the school premises
    16. Disfiguring or damaging school property
    17. Writing on the shirts and uniform
    18. Smoking or consuming any harmful substances like gutka, pan masala etc
    19. Any form of gambling
    20. Use of drugs or intoxicants – vaping is strictly prohibited
    21. Rowdyism and rude behavior
    22. Use of violence / or bullying in any form (physical/verbal), which may harm any student physically or mentally
    23. Any form of cyber-crime
    24. Discrimination of any kind – Casteism, Communalism or practice of untouchability
    25. Bursting crackers or throwing colour on one another within the school premises
    26. Bunking classes
    All the above acts of misconduct are forbidden practices. In case of any of the above acts of misconduct, Principal / HOS shall take suitable action as per observation of the Disciplinary Committee at school. The observance of rules of discipline and good behavior shall be a condition essential to a student's continuation in the school. In case of breach of discipline by a student, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken as specified under Disciplinary Measures on Page 29.
  29. No student is allowed to visit any of the kiosks situated outside the school, and if found doing so, he/she will be subjected to punishment as per school rules.
  30. Students using the school bus will maintain discipline in the bus. If he/she creates any indiscipline, he/she will be deprived of the bus facility. Kindly refer to the Transport Rules as listed in the Almanac.
  31. Students indulging in aggressive or violent behaviour, will not be allowed to travel by school bus. They will be picked and dropped to school by their parents.
  32. A Clinic proforma from Class Teacher /Subject Teacher signed by the teacher (in charge of a period) must be carried by a child going to the clinic for treatment.
  33. A vaccination record must be produced at the start of the year.
  34. Canteen facility is only available during the break time or after the school is over. (subject to prevailing conditions)
  35. Students will not boycott the orders, directions and instructions given to them by the school authorities.
  36. Children are not allowed to take photographs of any friend or student, teacher, Vice Principals or Principal in the school campus without his/her prior permission. They are not allowed to upload any such material on any social site without prior permission of the concerned student or teacher.
  37. Students using unfair means during examination will face disciplinary action as decided by the school authorities.
  38. The school reserves the right to suspend or to take strict disciplinary action against a student whose diligence or progress in studies is consistently unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students.

Note: The school reserves the right to modify the rules without prior notice.

Disciplinary Measures

The following measures will be adopted by the school authorities, as per observation and understanding the gravity of the misconduct, to enforce discipline. This is with regard to offences pertaining to the aforementioned aspects and for other activities of indiscipline.

  1. Counselling
  2. Oral / Written warning to the students and parents
  3. Issue of External Memos / Show Cause Notices
  4. Suspension from attending classes/school for a specified period
  5. Withdrawal of Break / PT Periods
  6. Community Service / Social Service
  7. Withholding or cancelling the results
  8. Withdrawal of bus facilities for misbehaviour in the school bus. In this case, parents would be responsible for dropping their wards to school and picking them up.
  9. Loss to school property due to wilful damage will be made good through replacement of school property / imposition of fine / strict action.
  10. Detention during the break for completion of neglected class work, home work
  11. Rustication and expulsion as per rules
  12. Roll Numbers / Admit Cards of students who do not follow the school rules or behave in an undisciplined manner may be withheld based on the Code of Conduct issued by the CBSE.
  13. In case a student is found using unfair means during a test/exam, the paper will be cancelled and no retest would be offered.
  14. The following measures will also be adopted to enforce discipline:
    1. Counselling
    2. Oral / written warning to the students and parents.
    3. Fine wherever applicable.
    4. Recovery of loss through replacement to school property due to wilful damage.
    5. Detention during the break for completion of neglected class work.
    6. External memo / show-cause notices.
    7. Withdrawal of bus facilities for misbehaviour in the school bus. In this case, parents will be responsible for dropping their wards to school and picking them up.
    8. Suspension from attending classes / school for a specified period.
    9. Rustication and expulsion as per rules.

Note: Breaking or violating any other Rule, the punishment for which is not prescribed here, will be a matter or decision of the school authority after observing the gravity of the conduct and behaviour of the student in the past. The punishment imposed will be final.

Safety & Security

In accordance with CBSE guidelines, individual committees have been constituted to look into the safety and security of the students. Students, parents and teachers can mail their complaints, if any, to the complaints@dpsmathuraroad.org. Once registered the complaint will be effectively dealt with by all members of the respective committees. Strict action will be taken against the following offences:

Anti-Bullying Committee

Bullying is strictly prohibited inside the school premises and no act will go unnoticed or unpunished. It can be directly from the bully to the victim (e.g., through physical intimidation or attacks, verbal abuse, unwanted attention and advances, damaging property), or it can be indirect (e.g., through spreading malicious rumours). It can also include cyber-bullying (e.g., sending unpleasant SMS messages, photographs or emails, to the victim or to others). Guidelines for prevention of Bullying and Ragging in Schools as stated in circular No. Acad.-17/ 2015 dated 9 March 2015 have been strictly implemented. Tobacco Control Committee

The committee will ensure a 100% Tobacco-free school that prohibits the use of tobacco products by anyone, including students, staff and visitors in the school premises or at school events at all times. It has been constituted for a mass campaign against the smoking menace in the school. All complaints can be filed at antitobacco@dpsmathuraroad.org

In an effort to deal with child sexual abuse cases the Government has brought in a special law 'The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act' (POCSO Act) 2012 effective from 14 November 2012 onwards. All complaints can be filed at shc@dpsmathuraroad.org

POCSO Act

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act 2012 provides protection to children from sexual abuse and prescribes punishment by way of imprisonment and fine for sexual offences against the children. Measures taken by our school as proposed by the CBSE:

Attendance

  1. It is compulsory for all students to complete 75% attendance before every exam to make them eligible to sit for the examination. In case attendance is short, students will not be eligible for promotion/any academic award.
  2. Adequate preparatory leave is given before each exam. It is mandatory for students to attend school till the last working day.
  3. Repeated absence without leave or unexplained absence for more than ten consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls; re-admission may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee provided the vacancy still exists.
  4. All children are expected to attend school on the opening day after every vacation and must be present before closing for the vacations. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate within 3 days of absence through fax, a representative or on the school’s official email ID provided on the school website.
  5. A child returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious disease should produce a fitness certificate from a doctor.
  6. Students suffering from any one of the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class.
    i Chicken pox Till complete falling of scabs
    ii Cholera Till the child is completely well
    iii Measles Two weeks after the rash disappears
    iv Mumps Until the swelling has gone
    v Whooping cough Six weeks
    vi Jaundice Six weeks
    vii H1N1 Six weeks
    viii Swine Flu Till the child is completely well
    ix Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease Till complete recovery
  7. Only those students will be put 'On Duty' who represent the school while playing a tournament, a sport or participate in any other event. Any student, not representing the school, will have no such claim.
  8. Proper permission by the Event In-charge, duly signed by Vice Principal (Administration), must be carried by students 'On Duty'.
  9. In case of long, uninformed absence on the part of a Board Examinee, three external memos would be issued followed by a show-cause notice and the matter would be sent to the CBSE for further action.

Withdrawals

In case of withdrawal within 30 days from the date of admission School will retain one-month tuition fee, ad-mission fee and registration fee and refund the balance to the parent (Ref to DOE no-tification No. DE/15/ACT/2008/7890-7910 dated 27.10.2008).
In case of with- drawal after 30 days from the date of admis- sion or during the session. School will charge tuition fee along with Management Fund is not refundable month the student is leaving the School. Management Fund is not refundable after grant of admission. Tuition Fee along with proportionate annual charges will be charged at the time of withdrawal.Such fee/charges would be applicable up to the month the student is leaving the School.
