Brief History of Our School

Delhi Public School established in 1949, functioned from a few tents pitched on the ground cleared from the onslaught of brambles. Today, spread over an area of about 15 acres of lush, green lawns, in the heart of the city, Delhi Public School is a co-educational day-cum-boarding school. The foundation stone of the school building was laid in 1956 by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice President of India. The impressive school building today comprises workshops, laboratories, a computer centre, audio-visual lecture rooms, libraries, swimming pools, squash courts, clinic, a book shop, the hostel and school canteen. The school functions under a registered society with eminent educationists, social workers and medical specialists. Mr. V K Shunglu, is at the helm of affairs of DPS Society as Chairman. Ms. Vrinda Sarup is the Chairperson, DPS Mathura Road. Mr. B.K Chaturvedi, Chairman DPS Society is the member, DPS Mathura Road. Their selfless work along with that of other members needs no testimony.

Delhi Public School offers courses in Humanities, Commerce and Science. It prepares students for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Keeping in view the ideals of democracy and our ancient culture, Delhi Public School strives to provide a system of education most suited to the needs of our society today. Stress on diverse methods of teaching for different categories of students, opportunities for shouldering responsibilities in school life, constant participation in games and sports, a wide range of cultural and co-curricular activities lend meaning to our school life. Thus, the end product is the harmonious, all round developed personality of our students poised on the threshold of life.

Mr. Manohar Lal

Mr. Manohar Lal From November 2015 to March 2019

Shaping young minds is one of the most challenging as well as interesting tasks in the present times. Just a glimpse of the bright, sparkling eyes is enough to bring a smile to our faces. We wonder how we can help these young flowers bloom in this world, without ever robbing them of their smiles, and we constantly seek newer ways to ensure it.

Each child's future follows a different path and momentum. In order for them to succeed in the 21st century, we will need to provide them with an education that prepares them to be creative, compassionate and innovative adults. We as responsible educators take upon ourselves to create a stimulating environment where young minds are nurtured to blossom into intelligent, mature and enriched youth. Knowledge being the most democratic source of power, we must impart quality education to our young scholars who are key agents in the process of development and peace. We at DPS Mathura Road are committed towards preparing skilled, knowledgeable, holistically developed personalities who continue to inspire our future generations and make us proud by their commendable contribution to the industry and society.

We aspire for our students to cultivate a life-long passion for learning and will step into a world which would be shaped by their dreams and contributions, and bettered by their zeal and integrity.
