“You earn your trophies at practice. You pick them up at competitions.”

Under the aegis of The DPS Society, Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi, organised the Inter-DPS Quiz 2022-National Finale on 22 December 2022.

The Inter-DPS Quiz-National is staged annually in commemoration of Shri Sarvesh Sarup, a 1980 alumnus of DPS Mathura Road, who was a student par excellence. He was an inveterate and a preeminent quizzer through his school and college days.

The mega national event unfolded in numerous stages, starting with the zonal round conducted at various Delhi Public Schools in October and November 2022. The overwhelming participation of 185 Delhi Public Schools divided into six zones bears testimony to the grandeur of this annual event.

The prestigious Grand Finale hosted by DPS Mathura Road witnessed enthusiastic participation of fourteen teams. The most perfervid Quiz unrolled into two categories-Junior Quiz and Senior Quiz, each consisting of seven teams. Each Quiz incorporated five rounds- Make a Choice, Gridlocked, Still Gridlocked, What’s the Conneqt and On the Buzzer. The glorious journey unfolded under the stewardship of the venerable Quizmaster, Mr. Adityya Nath Mubayi, Director, QuizCraft Global.

Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman of The DPS Society and Chairman Managing Committee of DPS Mathura Road graced the occasion with his august presence. The event saw a congregation of distinguished luminaries such as Smt. Madhu Shunglu; Dr. Kiran Datar and Ms Vrinda Sarup, Members of the Managing Committee; and Mrs Dolly Chanana, Joint Director of The DPS Society.

The Inaugural Ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by a mesmerising musical rendition by the school choir.

The Principal, Ms Reema Sharma felicitated the dignitaries and expressed her gratitude to them for gracing the event with their esteemed presence. She pointed up the significance of quizzing and how it is “instrumental in the cognitive development of the zestful quizzers”.

The Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman of The DPS Society and Chairman Managing Committee of DPS Mathura Road, conveyed his best wishes to all the participants. His invigorating words of wisdom lifted the spirits of the quizzers.

The distinguished Guests of Honour, Shri Sarup’s family members-Ms Vrinda Sarup, Ms Mallika Sarup, Mr Dhruv Sarup and Mr Varun Sarup graced the occasion. Mr Dhruv Sarup, considered it to be a privilege and a delight to attend this event. He addressed the gathering and lauded the spectacular demonstration of in-depth knowledge and dedication by the participants.

The presentation, exhibiting the rich legacy of Shri Sarvesh Sarup, was a source of inspiration to the budding quizzers.

Following this was the prize distribution ceremony. In the Junior Quiz Category, the first position was bagged by DPS Jankipuram, while DPS Jamnagar secured the second position and DPS Rourkela obtained the third position.

In the Senior Quiz Category, DPS Noida secured the first position followed by DPS Newtown in second place. In the same category, the third position was obtained by DPS Kolar Road.

Each participant of the winning team received a cash prize, with the winners receiving individual trophies, all of which were sponsored by the Sarup family.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Monica Sahni, Vice Principal (Academics). She congratulated all the winners for an exceptional display of their intellect. She also commended all the students and teachers for their endeavours to make the event a great success.

The National Anthem brought closure to the riveting event.
